Shree Lalita Devi Laksmi Temple, Meerapura, Allahabad
The city of Allahabad is one of India's most sacred and ancient cities. India's 3 most revered rivers - Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswathi meet here. The confluence is called sangam or prayag or triveni. Lalita Devi Laksmi temple is considered to be one of 51 Shakti Peeths or principle seats of Mother Divine. It is located here in the village of Meerapura. Allahabad is also the Maha Samadhi or final resting place of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Maha Laksmi (Shree) is that aspect of nature's intelligence [devata] governing success, affluence and abundace on every level of life: from inner spiritual, emotional & mental realms through to the outer worldly realm. Maharishi held this temple in high esteem.
